Keith Woods -- North Coast Builders Exchange
Keith Woods, CEO of the North Coast Builders Exchange, spoke to the Rotary Clubs at the July 10 meeting and covered a variety of topics: The "Tilt Theory of California" (1 in 8 Americans live in California) and the challenges that lay ahead for California and the North Bay. The economy here depends this five county area -- Sonoma, Napa, Marin, Mendocino and Lake counties, others, and the need to work together, buy from each other, keep the dollars local. Keith also talked about the money available from Builder's Exchange for scholarships and other non-profits. He spoke about a concern that in the North Bay we will experience a labor shortage in the construction industry in the future as babyboomers retire. Keith spends time in high schools talking about a long term future in construction and works to provide money and equipment to run shop classes to teach some of the skills that will be needed. Rolf Nord Kriken, Artist and Foundryman, of Soda Bay presented a very interesting discussion of his work. Rolf is well known for his bronze sculptures which are integral parts of memorials honoring America's veterans. Like the sculptor's art, Rolf's story pays tribute to the individuals who gave so much and whose experiences affected the lives of so many others. See his work and learn more at www.nordhammer.com. | July 17, 2009
