Green Project Kicks Off...

Kelseyville Interact Students and Rotarians clean-up the highway on April 30, 2011

We did it!!! We finally launched our "green" project as was requested by DG Jim Flamson at the beginning of the Rotary year!

We initiated our Konocti Road trash pick-up on Saturday morning, April 30, 2011, as planned. We had coffee, hot chocolate and doughnuts to kick it off. We had a great show of Interact Club members and our very own Rotarians.

Thanks to Richard Smith for taking over from Jim Hilton as project coordinator and pulling it all together with the County Road Department. Thanks also to Jim Hilton, Wally Holbrook, Debbie Gerace & Billy, Marc Hooper (staff photographer), Carl Touros (Krista's worker bee), Laurie Loumena, our KHS Interact Club faculty advisor, and lastly to Steele Wines for loaning us extra road clean-up equipment to meet the overwhelming turnout.

The work was done in short order thanks to the hands of many and a great spirit. We collected several bags of trash and a fair amount of recyclables as well. This will become a regular Interact/Rotary Club project of the future. We may even consider taking on other roads in Kelseyville that could use help. This was fun and good for our community.

Thanks again to everyone who lent a hand.

 Your resident president, Gary Olson
