Tammy Serfa, Academic Decathlon Regional Coordinator spoke with Rotarians about preparations being made to hold the event in Lake County. The California Academic Decathlon is a statewide non-profit organization that promotes an educational experience providing a format in which teams of nine high school students compete in academic events. All California public and private high schools are eligible to compete. The Academic Decathlon embodies a partnership of business, foundations and individuals in cooperation with the education community and county offices of education.

 

Team Coach Eric Larson (right, below) talked about the preparations the Kelseyville High School team is making to compete in the Decathlon.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

 

 

Celebrating his 17th birthday on Dec 1 was Ray Lee. Ray brought us up-to-date on his birthday celebrations, beginning with Wednesday (which was December 1 in Taiwan) when he received a phone call from his parents. That evening he was with Flora, baking a cake! On Thursday, (Dec 1 in the U.S.) he was the guest of honor at the Kelseyville High School Interact Club and Friday, at our Rotary meeting, we sang Happy Birthday and "passed the hat".

 

 

Saturday, Dec. 3 was the Tango Mike Troop Appreciation Dinner at the Armory in Lakeport. The menu was planned by Ruth Darling, President of Lakeport Rotary and a committee of Kelseyville Rotarians. A delicious meal was prepared by Kelseyville Rotarians: Cheri Cunningham; Marie Beery; Judy Conard; Gloria Flaherty; and Pam Shine Duncan. Students from Clear Lake High School and Kelseyville High School Interact Clubs served the meal to approximately 30 National Guardsmen and their families. Lakeport Rotarian also and assisted with set up and clean up. Thanks to all who participated in this special event.
