Rotary member Michele Buell presents Sunrise speaker Doug Bridges with a book to sign after he spoke at last Friday's Sunrise club meeting. Doug talked about his involvement with Starfish Ministries through which he serves communities in Haiti. To date he has made 50 trips to the country. Michelle presents Barbara MacIntyre with a reading book to sign for the Kelseyville Elementary School. Barbara is the Observatory Coordinator for the Taylor Observatory in Kelseyville. Barbara is a retired engineer from Buffalo, NY, and has travelled globally. The observatory is open to the public on the 3rd Saturday of each month. Tours begin with a brief lecture in the observatory's classroom. The lecture covers an area of astronomy or related field that is of interest to the general public. The lecture is followed by a planetarium show that helps people identify star consetllations and celestial objects that are visible on the night of the show. Afterwards there is telescope viewing until closing time. Public events start at 8 pm and end at 11 pm. August 28, 2009 
Lynn Andre joined Rotary members for breakfast and then told us about the Healthy Start program in Lake County. Lynn is the County Coordinator for Homeless Education. Lynn pointed out that there are many kids at risk around our community. |
